The term Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is used for those who go through
recurring episodes of compulsive overeating. They eat far too much, but
don't get rid of the extra calories in the same way as those with
bulimia.
They typically eat large quantities of food quickly even when they are not
physically hungry.

BED usually leads to overweight. About one fifth of those who seek medical
help for overweight have typical symptoms. Even those with overweight who
don't have typical symptoms are often helped by similar treatment.
