I've been taking Citalopram for the past 18 months after going through a really bad time in my life. I decided I needed to re-focus on life and have since stopped taking them. Since then I have been suffering a little anxiety too. Anyhow I'm now having great difficulty with my lack of libido. I'm a 44yr old female with such a wonderful partner who has been there through the bad times with me, but sadly I just don't feel "in the mood". Is there anything anyone can suggest trying to help me solve this matter? Thanks.

I recently wrote a book about mindfulness and sex, after finding some research that it can be really effective for low libido (check out a study I read about below).

Mindfulness can help lower stress (stress decreases libido), helps with worry, and brings you back into the moment, so you can really appreciate all the sensations that are available during sex.

I would love your feedback on the book (I only released it last night!). You can get a free sample at mindfulnessandsex.com

I hope you're able to increase your libido...

Mindfulness and Sex research

Western therapists have only recently started applying mindfulness
to issues surrounding sex1, and many people are finding it to be an
effective way to improve their sex lives. Dr. Lori Brotto gave three
couselling-education-meditation sessions to 26 women with low
libido and arousal problems. Between sessions, they also engaged
in mindfulness meditation.
The program was found to increase the women’s desire, arousal,
lubrication, and sexual satisfaction, with women rating the
mindfulness exercises as the most helpful aspect of the program.
Researchers from this study believe that mindfulness helped people
in these areas by promoting deep relaxation and focusing attention
on the present moment, both of which are an important part of
sexual arousal and satisfying lovemaking.

On the other hand, few drug therapies (if any) have been found to
help women with low sexual desire.
